UPDATE:
The new agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom will include the current 10% rate remaining in place, but give the U.K. a breathing room on cars and places, as well as invite it into an "economic security agreement with the U.S., President Trump revealed at the Oval Office on Thursday (May 8), adding that full details were still being written up.
“They’ll also be fast-tracking American goods through their customs process, so our exports go to a very, very quick form of approval, and there won’t be any red tape,” Trump said via the New York Post.

President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States and the United Kingdom had reached a trade deal in a post shared on his Truth Social account early Thursday (May 8) morning.
"The agreement with the United Kingdom is a full and comprehensive one that will cement the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom for many years to come," Trump wrote. "Because of our long time history and allegiance together, it is a great honor to have the United Kingdom as our FIRST announcement. Many other deals, which are in serious stages of negotiation, to follow!"
Trump promised that "the Golden Age of America is coming" in another post shared on his account. The president claimed that more details about the deal would be revealed in a press conference at the Oval Office on Thursday.
"This should be a very big and exciting day for the United States of America and the United Kingdom," Trump wrote.
The deal would mark the first agreement made by the current Trump administration with a foreign national since he announced sweeping tariffs on U.S. trading partners last month. The president had previously teased a "major trade deal" on Wednesday (May 7), but didn't reveal which country was involved at the time, instead claiming it was "big and highly respected."
