A lucky lottery player in North Carolina "couldn't sleep" after she recently scored a huge jackpot win.
Carletta Woodall, of Parkton, was preparing to go to sleep last week when she decided to take a moment and try her luck in a digital instant game to see if she could win. According to a release from the NC Education Lottery, she bought a $1 ticket in the Bison Bonanza game with a progressive jackpot and ended up beating the 1 in 31 million odds to win the top "Epic jackpot" level, landing her the $343,099 jackpot.
"When the numbers kept going up, I was like, 'No way,'" she said. "You can imagine how shocked I was."
The Robeson County woman added, "I couldn't sleep after that."
Woodall claimed her prize at lottery headquarters on Tuesday (July 16), taking home an incredible $245,316 after all required state and federal tax withholdings. According to lottery officials, she already has big plans for how to spend some of her winnings: a trip to Las Vegas.
"I've never been to Vegas so I want to take a trip there," she said.
In addition to her trip, she also plans to share her prize with family as well as do some repairs around her home.
