Football Coach picks up 2000+ fans beer tab...

In an effort to get fans to the stadium, Portland State football coach Bruce Barnum offered free beer -- and paid up on his promise. Barnum appeared on a local radio show and agreed to to buy beer for the fans at the Vikings’ home opener against Western Oregon last weekend. All they had to do is mention that they heard about the deal.

More than 2,000 fans hit the beer garden and got their free brew while they were cheering on the home team. And, Coach Barnum was hit with a $14,448 tab (approximately 7% of his yearly base salary) -- oh yeah, Portland State ended up winning 21-7.
